Our ongoing saga to find the best noodles in Serpong recently led us somewhere we seldom go. Although Melati Mas isn’t far from home, there was never much to draw us to the area—until Mie Aling 99 entered the picture, practically calling out for us to give it a taste.
Situated uniquely between three churches, Mie Aling 99 is clearly a local favorite, patronized mostly by those attending Sunday Mass. When we arrived on a Sunday morning, we were met with long, buzzing queues of hungry diners—a sure sign of something good to come.

However, we encountered a bit of “noodle noir” mystery upon arrival. We were looking for a classic pork noodle fix, yet the menu prominently featured Chicken Noodles. We were momentarily baffled, especially when we spotted a sign that read “Contains Pork.” Curious but committed, we ordered two bowls of the Chicken Noodles to see for ourselves.

Once the bowls arrived, the mystery was solved: the secret is in the seasoning. One whiff told us they use rich, savory pork oil to coat the noodles, and our first bite confirmed it.
The portions at Mie Aling 99 are generous, to say the least. While waiting for the main event, we also ordered the Siomay, which arrived in equally large portions. Fortunately, the depth of the pork oil and the perfectly springy texture of the noodles made it easy to clear our plates. We left feeling satisfied, full, and glad we finally made the trip to Melati Mas.
