Breakfast at HOH Kopitiam, Serpong

Posted on April 10, 2026April 4, 2026 By Benny

Every Sunday after church, I find myself on a silent hunt for the perfect place for breakfast—a place to let the morning linger over a strong cup of coffee. I had been searching all over Serpong for such a spot, unaware that HOH Kopitiam was tucked away all along, simply waiting to be discovered. It was a happy accident; Grace happened to pick it at random, leading us right to the slow, soulful breakfast I didn’t know I was missing.

Peranakan Interior of HOH Kopitiam

Truth be told, stepping inside HOH Kopitiam feels less like a Kopitiam and more like entering a storied Peranakan home. The space is anchored by dark wooden tables and classic spindle-back chairs, all set upon a beautiful mosaic floor of green and white tiles. With cream-colored ceramics lining the lower walls and vintage tear-off calendars marking the days, every detail—right down to the red ‘Fu’ characters for good fortune—builds a nostalgic atmosphere that invites you to pull up a chair and let the world outside slow down.

Variety of Dishes at HOH Kopitiam

While the decor is timeless, the menu tells its own story through classic Kopitiam staples. We started with the essentials: thick toast paired with local coffee served in a heavy ceramic mug. For the main event, we shared the Penang-style Char Kway Teow, which carried a beautiful smoky wok hei and a rich aroma. Grace opted for the Curry Noodles, a bowl of deep, comforting spice. However, the unexpected star was the Taiwan Sausage; though a bit unusual for a traditional Kopitiam, they were so savory and enjoyable that we found ourselves ordering a second portion.

As the sun climbed higher, our slow morning also came to a gentle end. We truly took our time, enjoying our meal piece by piece and lingering over every last sip of coffee. After settling the bill, we walked out into the bright Serpong air, already planning our return for next week. This time, the hidden gem won’t be so hard to find.
