Tucked away in the corner of Ruko Maggiore, Gading Serpong, you will find Bakmi Bangka Afong Alun. Surprisingly, its tucked-away location doesn’t deter the heavy breakfast crowds.
We arrived just in time to beat the rush. Anyone arriving after us had to scribble their names on an outdoor whiteboard serving as the waiting list.
If the menu options feel overwhelming, fear not. Large food photos are conveniently displayed right on the wall to guide your choice.

Grace and I both opted for the dry noodles. They called it Jammien. I chose the complete bowl, while Grace went with the standard version.
Our bowls arrived promptly. They featured thin, springy strings of noodles topped with savory meat and fresh sliced spring onions.

My bowl came with two extra wontons on the side, featuring thin wrappers stuffed with juicy, seasoned meat filling.. This was a slight mix-up since we had actually expected Tahu Kok.
Naturally, we went ahead and ordered a separate portion of Tahu Kok to satisfy our craving.
While I usually lean toward wide noodles (Mie Lebar), I thoroughly enjoyed these thin strands. Grace squeezed fresh orange over hers to add a zesty brightness.
I preferred keeping mine original with a touch of sweetness and a small dab of chili. Halfway through our meal, the Tahu Kok arrived.

The steaming broth served as a comforting, welcome addition to the dry noodles. Meanwhile, the chewy fish cakes added a wonderfully rich texture to the dish.
We stepped out of Bakmi Afong Alun completely satisfied. It is a fantastic new addition to the ever-growing Gading Serpong bakmi scene.
