This place, Mad Ronin Canggu, is a ramen shop in a box. Mad Ronin is located at the corner, just next to Pepito Batu Bolong, Canggu. It has no parking space for car, but thankfully Pepito has been kind enough to let the visitor with cars to park at their place.
Inside Mad Ronin, the place is also not too big. There are 4 tables and 1 long bar table facing the road for patron. Its decoration is dominated by bright middle age Asian pattern on skate board. The highlight is a drawing of muscular female on the wall, holding a samurai in one hand, ready to kill a tiger beneath her.

Our order started with Gyoza, my favorite. The Gyoza come in 4 pieces, with salty dipping sauce. The best of Gyoza is with the thin wrappings. Mad Ronin’s Gyoza however still feel a bit thick. Enjoyable though that we finished it in no time.

Following the Gyoza, we ordered 2 bowl of ramen, each for myself and Grace. For me it is Black Truffle Chicken Ramen, something easy which I was expecting to share with Ethan. I didn’t quite catch the black truffle though, which was OK, because Ethan did like it.

The kickers of our dinner though, is what Grace ordered, Tonkotsu Black Noodle. Mind you though that it doesn’t come with black noodle. The ramen come with Hakata-style noodle, topped with slices of pork and egg. The broth is light, refreshing, with perfect crunchiness of the noodle.

The Mad Ronin Ramen can be found in another place in Petitenget. If you are interested to follow their activities, be sure to follow their Instagram @madronin.bali. Don’t forget to check out other Ramen restaurant in the area, Ramen Hamatora
