Dinner at Ramen Hamatora, Canggu

Posted on March 19, 2021 By Benny

The first time we come to Ramen Hamatora, Canggu, we were welcomed with power outage. Ramen Hamatora has no generator, so the staff told us that they can’t take our order. We waited for few minutes, then decided to check another place which has electricity.

The next day we come back to Ramen Hamatora. No power outage this time, so we are good to proceed with our order.

I ordered Tsukemen, Japanese ramen noodle, which is served in separate plate between the noodle and the soup. This is perfect for Ethan, who like the noodle without the soup, and me who like the noodle with soup. There are 3 sizes. I ordered the midsize, which says 330 gram of noodles, for me to share with Ethan.

To accompany the Tsukemen ramen, we ordered 2 additional side dishes. First one is Pork Belly. Just in case that the meat in the Tsukemen is not sufficient. And the second one is Tempe. A bit out of place, but why not? Both come with thick sweet sauce.

  • Pork Chasiu
  • Tempe

Honestly, the Pork Chasiu looks more like Babi Kecap than Chasiu. Taste is sweet, and quite savory to enjoy, even to me who doesn’t really like Babi Kecap. The Tempe come in similar taste, pretty unusual.

Grace ordered a regular Ramen and Ramen Tamago for extra. We also ordered Gyoza to share among us.

Ramen Hamatora also wanted to make sure that the younger patron to have a good time. Near the entrance, a cotton candy machine is available to produce cotton candy, free of charge. You can see that kids, Ethan included, are queuing for a good dessert, kids version.

It does took us special effort to finally able to eat at Ramen Hamatora. It will be better if Ramen Hamatora has its own power backup to keep serving customers during power outage. But, we weren’t disappointed with the food and the place. The ramen were medicine for our sore throat after weeks of western food.

We will definitely come back.
